Rise And Dance

Following a fun evening out enjoying local rum and cigars, we started the following day photographing talented flamenco dancers within one of the most beautiful areas of downtown Havana. Having worked with three of the four dancers previously there was already familiarity and it was great to see them again and get caught up. Then it was time to start shooting!

Sunrise in Havana is a special time with soft light that gently stretches down the streets as morning arrives. The number of people walking around also starts to increase later in the morning. As such, we had very few pedestrians in the distant backgrounds of our photos and wide apertures allowed us to blur those background to create images that isolated the dancers from the backgrounds easily.
